Youth Ambassadors

The Knights Foundation Youth Ambassador's aim is to provide and facilitate vocational and social opportunities for young disabled adults (aged 14-22) -whom we have often supported in earlier years.

As our young people reach their teenage years, they face huge risk of social exclusion, whilst misunderstanding, insufficient facilities at workplaces and discrimination, mean that they have very limited choices for further education and limited access to much needed work experience. Our young people are hugely talented and with modern technology, we can help to bridge the gap and provide authentic vocational and workplace experience.

We arrange a range of stimulating, carefully chosen (usually by the cohort) activities from wheelchair boxing through to attending theatres and exhibitions. Within the pilot we have launched our own podcast- hosted and produced by our youth ambassadors.

The aim of the initiative is to ensure that the cohort has direct opportunity to help influence and shape the future of the charity and that they become role models for young people facing the challenges of being disabled.

The group is open to those living with a disability in Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, and Sussex. It is also important to note that our ambassadors have a wide range of disabilities including hidden disabilities such as Hydrocephalus.

KNIGHTS FOUNDATION YOUTH AMBASSADORS MISSION STATEMENT: TO OPEN A FAIR AND INCLUSIVE WORLD FOR YOUNG DISABLED PEOPLE. INCLUSIVITY FOR ALL, NOT JUST DISABLED PEOPLE.
